Brian Coxen is a multidisciplinary artist from Ventura County, California. Brian has explored the arts all of his life whether it is oil painting, playing bass or shooting photography. With a few decades under his belt writing and performing music, his primary focus is pushing oil pigment around on canvas. Drawing inspiration from Schmid, Sargent, Klimt and Picasso, Brian likes to classify himself as an abstract realist. 

 

Brian creates artwork that draws you in with a sense of the familiarity while invoking emotion. His goal is to create the illusion of realism using abstraction wherever possible while also incorporating techniques from the abstract expressionists in his pieces. 

 

When Brian is not painting in his studio you will also find him enjoying a round of golf and capturing reference photos. Inspired by golf architecture he will work in his studio creating oil paintings in his impressionistic style.
